My family and I recently took a road trip through the Canadian Maritimes provinces, and I am going to post a few shots over the next week or so. This is low tide at Chignecto Bay, an inlet of the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia, Canada, within the Fundy National Park. The Bay of Fundy is renowned for its extreme tides. Twice a day this area is completely devoid of water. Twice a day this very spot is under at least ten feet (roughly 3 meters) of water.

An inlet of Chignecto Bay. This photo shows the rocky and gravelly bottom of the bay when the water has completely emptied out. People can be seen exploring in the far distance. The bay is surrounded on 3 sides by thickly forested steep hills.
